Insoluble Salt: Lead(II) iodide, Barium sulphate and Copper(II) carbonate

Insoluble salts are salts that does not dissolve in water at room temperature. Insoluble salts are prepared by the precipitation method through a double decomposition reactions.

In this reaction, the precipitate of insoluble salt is formed when two different solutions that contains the cation and anion of the insoluble salt are mixed. The insoluble salt is obtained as a residue of a filtration.

Soluble Salt: Copper(II) sulphate Crystals

Copper(II) sulphate crystals produced in Teknik Tawau Chemistry Lab

Copper(II) sulphate salt can be produced by reacting sulphuric acid with copper(II) oxide. The reaction is represented by the following equation:

H2SO4  +  CuO  -->  CuSO4  +  H2O
