My poor car key...

After using my Wira SE remote control (same as Waja) for about 5 years, it becomes insensitive. Sometimes work, sometimes it doesn't work at all and sometimes I got to "cucuk" the button using other small key just to make it work. And 2 months before, the plastic casing broke and I have to glue it... And starting from that day, it was incapable to lock at all. I thought it was battery problem, so I change the battery and it works well but without the casing. So, it leaves me with no choice but to lock and unlock the car manually.

So, I called the Proton Service Center in Tawau to ask them about the plastic casing for the key. And they say.. "No spare part for this one... It is normal for this Waja kind of alarm... Cannot be repaired". Apa punya Service Center... No solution for their own product... Hm..

Now, the option left is to change to a new set of alarm. I have been thinking to change it for the last 2 weeks but it came to me that someone else might have experienced the same problem. So, I browse the internet and luckily, I found this two interesting item, Proton Waja Casing and D.I.Y Proton Remote Control Duplicator. Both item were promoted in Lelong.com.my... I think both item has been on the market for a while now...

So, I bought both of the item (To save money on the delivery charges) and try it out....

D.I.Y Proton Remote Control Duplicator

The result was wonderful... And I recommend the D.I.Y Duplicator because it is more solid than the old style one. I will update on which locksmith can duplicate the key because not all locksmith has the proper tools for this one...

Well.. There are about 7 locksmiths in Bandar Tawau area and 5 of them do not have the proper tools for this type of key. One of the two most equipped locksmiths in Tawau is Tak Loong Engineering Supplies at Fajar Area (on the same block with Quantum IT). You will never miss this locksmith because it is located at the end of the block with a very big double signboard.

I did not ask the tokeh name but he seems to be very experienced with his job.

The charges were expensive... RM15 for the new casing and RM25 for the D.I.Y Remote Duplicator. A total of RM120 for both key but at least I got to keep my original alarm with no hassle to bongkar-bongkar to pasang a new alarm...
