Akhirnya... Kontrak Matapelajaran Kimia di SM Teknik Tawau tamat pada tahun ini dengan berlabuhnya tirai Kertas Kimia pada jam 3:30 petang, 29 November 2011. Tamatnya kursus teknikal di SM Teknik Tawau juga akan menyaksikan penukaran nama SM Teknik Tawau kepada SM Vokasional Tawau bermula Januari 2012.

The reaction produce a yellow precipitate that covers the "PK2" mark under the conical flask. The time taken varies depends on the concentration of sodium thiosulphate solution used.

The rate of reaction is directly related to the concentration of the reactants. The higher the concentration of the reactants, the faster the reaction.

Insoluble salts are salts that does not dissolve in water at room temperature. Insoluble salts are prepared by the precipitation method through a double decomposition reactions.

Neutralisation is the reaction between an acid and a base to form salt and water:

Chemistry Experiments!!

This week I conducted few experiments for the students. For form five, the experiments were the preparations of ethanol using fermentation method and the distillation of ethanol. I did two demos for them as if they do it on their own it would take double the time I did. The experiments demo were the conversion of ethanol to ethanoic acid and the preparations of ethyl butanoate using reflux method.
